This hotel development will be located at 4604 Wornall Road, in Kansas City, MO. It’s a pairing of the upscale Marriott brand Tribute and the distinctive upscale brand Aloft.

The total project will provide host to (175) Tribute Guest Rooms + (121) Aloft for a total of 296 rooms, with (2) restaurant + bar areas, ballroom, meeting spaces and fitness areas. This new facility will be located south of downtown in the Plaza Area of the city.

My last project at this firm, my particular task was developing the public spaces and guest rooms for the Aloft hotel, as brand dictates more of the interiors and they needed less development from the interior design team.

So, I did what came naturally to my workflow. I started with the specifications and design documents supplied by Marriott and started in. Once the room matrix and public spaces were developed – I went to work on the envelope, re-adjusting PTAC locations, coordinating interior layouts to work with exteriors and developed portions of the exterior wall types for bot design + color, plus all of the branded signage and types used for the project at that phase.

I no longer have access to the working files on this project, so I’ve had no involvement on it since late March. The images included are from the 60% design development documents that have been submitted for review.

As part of the development of this project, I was working off line and out of pocket creating the parts that I needed to develop the interiors package – up to and including the custom wall vinyl in the corner of the room.
